There are certain eye conditions that cannot achieve clear vision through glasses or conventional contact lenses. These conditions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Keratoconus
Pellucid Marginal degeneration
Patients with corneal transplants
Past injuries resulting in irregular astigmatism
Radial Keratotomy (RK) patients with fluctuating vision
Severe dry eye
These conditions require a rigid contact lens that is custom-made to perfectly fit the shape of your eye.
Results will vary between individuals, as each case is unique, but the improvements can be significant. Keratoconus patients often realize life changing improvements such as the ability to read and drive. Some scleral wearers may obtain 20/20 vision, but this is not guaranteed.
With proper care and handling lenses typically last one to two years. Vision progression may also necessitate new lenses.
